Gun Permits

The Indiana firearm application is really a two part process beginning with a recommendation from your local law enforcement agency. Then the application is sent to the Indiana State Police. The Indiana State Police Superintendent is charged with the responsibility of actually issuing the license and administering the licensing program.

Within Harrison County you must begin the application process with the Harrison County Sheriff's department or your local town hall. If you live within a city limit you will need to obtain your gun permit from your local town hall.

The local department will charge a fee at that time; however, another fee will have to be provided to the State of Indiana when the application is mailed to the Indiana State Police. The applicant will be responsible for mailing the application along with fees to the Indiana State Police. The Indiana State Police must receive your application and payment within 60 days of the Firearms Permit Application.
