Civil Process

The term "serve" means to provide notice; in other words, everyone has the right to "due process" under the law. It is critical that everyone involved in a civil case is provided with proper notice of every paper filed in that case. The Harrison County Sheriff's Department can serve papers in civil processes including but not limited to serving papers to individuals due to eviction, civil judgements and divorce.

It normally takes 1-3 days for the Harrison County Sheriff's Department to serve papers to an individual or business. An individual can be served by documents placed in the mail or served directly in person at the individual's home of work address.

• The charge for Civil Process filed in Harrison County is $28 (payable to the Clerk’s Office)
• There is an out of state service fee of $60 (payable to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept.)
